Always seems to be something

You may remember that I've been trying to get fit, and my method has been running. Well I've been getting some pains in my lower shins so I thought I'd get it checked out. Thought, I wont go to a GP as they'll just tell me to stop running, and I want to carry on. So I went to a Podiatrist who is also a runner, but it would appear that I am destined not to run. I have been told that I must stop running immediately, and only start again if I get special shoe inserts. Go for it you might say, but then you'd be wrong, said inserts cost approx £600, a little steep maybe. I think I'll save the £600 and ride my bike instead, on the plus side the excercise time to scenery ratio is better on a bike. There's always a positive if you look hard enough.

Feeling loyal

For anyone that has anything to do with the Salvation Army, you'll probably know that there is a whole heap of stuff going on in some peoples lives. Namely a guy called Chick Yuill, who I hardly know, has sacrificed his position within the army also his financial security to stand up for something that he believes in, to voice some issues that have been covered for too long. From what I know of the situation he is right to do what he's doing, but that's not really what this post is about.

I have found myself in a weird situation, on the face of it I have no real ties to the Salvation Army, though a large part of my family are heavily involved it doesn't necessarily tie me by association. But I do feel strangely tied, strangely loyal to the Salvation Army. Definitely not tied and loyal to the things that have resulted in Chick's resignation, but rather to the ideals and ethos that the Salvation Army was built upon, and in some cases has left behind. I want to be part of a change in the Salvation Army, that doesn't allow an organisation that was built upon Grace, Justice and Love to treat its Godly workers in such an appalling manner. I know it probably sounds really naive to think that a relative outsider could do anything to change such a huge organisation, and to be honest that's what I think too. But it doesn't stop me wanting to do it, or believing that I will in some small way play my part.

Bin helping out

Jo and I went to some friends to help a bit with their redecorating. We were doing various things, but no sooner had we started to fill their skip than the local bargain hunters turned up and started rooting around, taking out all sorts. They didn't ask if we minded, they just got into the skip. It wasn't even as if there was much to rescue. Good on em I suppose, but maybe they should ask next time.

Stevie wevie

So, Jo and I are beginning to think about names for the baby. But I can't seem to get past working out and worrying about how the various options might be changed slightly to become a playground insult. Maybe it's cos I got a bit picked on, or maybe I'm a closet bully.

If you wish you can suggest names, not for playground insults or course, you might even get credit.

Bloggers Block

I can't think of anything to blog about. I'm willing but unable.

My Pride and Joy

Tinky Taylor as seen for the first time. Jo was begining to wonder if it was a phantom pregnancy, but here's the proof. Not too distinguishable admittedly, but you can see his/her spine.

Left or right? Who knows

So as you probably know I'm not working at the moment. You may not know that I am struggling to work out what God has for me, every time something comes up, it ends up not working for one reason or other. Part of me just wants to know more of who I am, and what I'm supposed to be doing.

I remembered a verse last night that I have always misunderstood, so I re-read it today and it has given me hope. It hasn't taken away the confusion, but I'll take confusion any day of the week if it comes with hope. The verse is Isaiah 30:21-22 and great in the message. "Your teacher will be right there, local and on the job, urging you on whenever you wander left or right: "This is the right road, walk down this road". So I guess all I need to do is keep looking for different roads to walk down, and keep asking God "Yes or No?" I know God has a plan, I think he's shared part of that with me, just because I can't see what's round the next corner, it doesn't mean that the road I can't see isn't there.

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

I've just completed my third 8 mile journey of the day. Not much to scream about you might say, but then you would be wrong. Each journey took me at least 1.25 hours. I averaged 6.4 mph. And that is being generous.

Sorry needed to rant, rant is now over.

Threw it back in their faces...

I've committed a sin, a blogging sin that is. I previously posted that I went for an interview, but I haven't told anyone how I got on. Well...

I eventually got offered the job, hurrah. However, I had to turn the job down for a number of reason, mainly, there were two positions going and they offered the part time one, the full time role went the existing member of staff, and we couldn't afford to move on the smaller wage. Also the hours were really crazy, and I would never see Jo. Which would be bad.

But, it was a great confidence boost. So hurrah for that.

Ohh and I didn't really throw it back in their faces, I was very gracious, as I'm sure you can imagine.

Words of yesteryear

A previous post contained the word 'umpteenth'. I commented that it was a Gran type word to say, and it got me to reminiscing. What other old words/phrases do i love and miss, which words/phrases evoke fond memories? Below is a little list, feel free to add, agree or disagree.

Smile, rugby has returned

Just In case you're worried about how you might get over S.A.D now the summers over. Here is the answer, support Gloucester Rugby Club. It might just get you through the long dark winter days, also if you become an ardent supporter, we could go and watch a match.

Also Gloucester are tipped for the top this year (by me admittedly) and it's always nice to be on the winning side.
