West Country folk have opinions too.

Quick thought

My wife, Jo and I think a lot about what Church could or should be like. If you would be so kind, I would like your thoughts, please tell me your 'Top Two' thoughts on what Church should or could be. If you're not a Church goer or Christian, then I welcome your thoughts all the more.

So far so good

Well, I'm in Gloucester looking after the mice. And this Elephant is doing ok, I got them fed, dressed, and out the door to arrive at play group 5 minutes early.

Then the trouble began:

Firstly, walking into a room full of Mum's is intimidating, I'm sure that you'll find something Freudian to say about that, but none the less they are intimidating.

Secondly, all the mum's thought I was Gem and Megs Dad. Which in itself isn't too much of a prob, but it does insinuate I'm my sisters Husbands. And though I am from the West Country, that is one insinuation too far. I did point out I'm Uncle Steve though, so crisis averted.

But all in, it's going well. We're going swimming this afternoon. What fun.

Elephants and Mice

I'm off on Monday to look after my nieces for a week, while my sister is at work. I am surprisingly nervous. I dont want to damage them, also i have an elevated position as uncle and want to keep it that way.

Here they are, fearsome creatures.

Top-Golf

Well if you read Lloyd's blog you'll know that we New Haw boys (Lloyd, Si, myself and Tim came to visit) have been enjoying the delights of the Top Golf experience. Well last night was was one of those nights.

Now i should explain that Top Golf is different to most driving ranges because the balls have microchips in them and a computer type system works out where your ball lands (it's everso complicated). There are many types of game to be played, for a normal smash it and hope session, to playing Top Break (which is a based on the rules of snooker, there are areas of the range have the same colours as those of the balls in snooker, if you 'pot' a ball in the wrong hole you get minus points etc.)

Our scores last night were not a testament to the virtues of driving ranges. Between us we scored, -1, 1 & 3 points. I will not tell you who got which dismal score, as i will also not tell you who threw their own club at the ground in frustration. Was funny though.

True

They say...

They say its not good to have more money than sense. But is the reverse better? To have more sense than money.

I think I'd rather have the same amount of both.

What d'you think?

O.C.D?

Is it O.C.D to match the colour of clothes pegs to clothes when hanging out the washing?

The old dragon

I like to refer to my mother in law as "the old dragon". It's said with affection. It relates to the fact she welsh and a bit scary(she's got a punch on her). What are your top mother in law names. You can comment under a pseudonym for your safety if you wish.

Coffee lover

If you're a fan of truly good coffee, then hopefully you'll agree that Starbucks coffee isn't coffee, that Costa should only be visited at a push, Cafe Nero is ok (despite some historical issues with the name, maybe they should rename it cafe Hitler or Pol Pot)

A new favorite coffee shop of mine is flat white. It's in Soho, it's a bit tricky to find, but when find it you do pleased you'll be. A true coffee experience, barista' that actually know what they're doing. If you do like Starbuck et. al. then I ask you to visit flat white and expect a Damascus road experience, it is indeed coffee as God intended. If the scales don't fall from your eyes then go back to the instant and out of my sight.

If you cant find Flat White but still want to try good coffee in London, go to Monmouth Coffee Shop on Monmouth street nr Covent Garden, easier to find but not quite as good. Nearly but not quite. Plus they both have ethically traded coffee. Hurrah.

To be me i need...

A quick question or two for you:

Do you need people around you to help you to be the person you are?

Are you defined as a person whatever company you keep?

(does this post look like a job advert..if so we need you...it's not meant to)

Just interested, i think i change depending on the company i keep. With some people i struggle to be myself, others i seem to become more than i am. With some it's just comfortable. Maybe it's the introvert in me?

I'm back by popular demand

Well, how is it that i felt the pressure to perform, even in a blog that next to no one reads? Ha. But i guess why would anyone read it if i don't write anything. Well this my friends is and new day, a new dawn. I will blog often from hence forth. But i'll sign off now and write something interesting a bit later on.
